New Dates and Places
Upcoming EventsIn a bit of a change for Ebenezer, we are playing Friday, October 17th at "Hanks on the Square" in Granbury. We usually play Saturday's there, but this gig is in conjunction with the Second Anniversary Party for "Hanks". There will be specials and a festive atmosphere for all, so come on out and join the party and listen to "Ebenezer". As always, No Cover, Good Food, Good Fun, and "Neezer" music!
Ok, everyone! We passed the audition at Seekers, played as the warm-up act, and now have been invited to be the headliners on November 1st. This is a Saturday, which is good cause we shouldn't have to compete with the High School Football, and is also a place where we are encouraged to sing our original songs (how great is that!). There is a nominal cover, $5, and even better because it is in Tarrant County (just north of HWY 183 on Precinct Line Rd.), you won't have to drive that long to get there! So, plan on coming out and hearing Ebenezer at Seekers on November 1st!
Busy 1st Quarter
Upcoming EventsWell, it has been a busy first quarter for "Ebenezer", not so much with playing, but just everyday living!
In February, Rusty began feeling a little sick, and by the time he was better he had been in the hospital with an emergency appendectomy! He is all better now, but was out of commission for about 10 days or so during which time we got some charts for some "new" songs including "Happy Together" (the Turtles), and "What a Day for a Daydream" and "Nashville Cats" (John Sebastian and the Lovin Spoonful). We have actually rehearsed these and will sing them in April at "Hanks on the Square" on the 19th.
In March, after our "Hanks" date, Bob began feeling sickly, and by the time he was better, had been in the hospital with atrial fibrulation (if that's how you spell it). After a bunch of tests, they decided his heart was not too clogged up and put him on meds to control things and he is doing much better now (feels better, too)!
My buds from the church in Farmers Branch, "Phil and the Blanks" (also known as "Crossties") covered our February gig for us since Rusty was down for the count, and they had fun and were invited back to play. It's a long way from North Dallas to Granbury, but maybe they will return and play sometime, I think they had fun too (except for the drive)!
This week we rehearsed with a friend of Rusty's, Dr. Ron, who is a saxophone player from way back. He had a digital saxophone that plays through the amp, and using the synthesizer, was able to add Sax, Cello, Fiddle, Flute, Clarinet, Piano, and even Steel Drums to some of the songs....Way Cool. He is gonna sit in with us on the 19th, so I invite and encourage everyone to come out, it really is amazing what this instrument adds to the songs and sounds.
Well, that's a long entry for me, but just to keep you up to date.
Come out on the 19th, 8-11 at "Hanks on the Square" in Granbury if you can. The food is good, the drinks cold, and the friends and music, definitely "Neezer"!
